Rural King Enables Growth & Customer Experience With BTM Global
After encountering limitations with their legacy software, Rural King, a national home and farm supply retailer, came to BTM Global to replace their ERP, store solutions, and customer engagement systems with Oracle’s intuitive retail solutions.
Founded in 1960, Rural King has added more than 140 farm and home supply stores across the U.S. and continues to grow. With products ranging from automotive to clothing to farm supply, the retailer recognized the need for more robust software that would allow their stores’ inventory and financial systems to communicate more seamlessly in real time to reduce overstock and increase sales. Rural King’s CMO suggested they consider switching to Oracle’s omnichannel solutions.
Rural King had researched other Oracle solutions providers; however, they highlighted that BTM Global offered a more streamlined approach to Oracle implementation, including in-depth analysis and understanding of Rural King’s legacy software, business goals, and multi-phase software deployment. This experience and resulting partnership enabled Rural King to enhance both their IT systems and business capabilities in a manner that provided quicker business value.
Streamlined Solutions
Rural King was an early adopter of new versions of Oracle’s Merchandising Foundation Cloud Services (MFCS) and Store Inventory Operations Cloud Services (SIOCS), which required close collaboration between the retailer, Oracle, and BTM Global. The retailer also implemented Oracle Financial Service Solutions and Oracle Xstore for Point of Sale (POS) and Customer Engagement Cloud Service (CECS) across 130 stores, so the project was divided into multiple phases.
Oracle Xstore is a point-of-sale (POS) software solution designed for retail businesses. Rural King implemented Oracle Xstore to better manage in-store transactions, customer interactions, inventory, and omnichannel store operations efficiently. Xstore is part of the Oracle Retail Suite, which provides a variety of tools for managing both physical stores and online sales.
The multi-phase implementation project began at the height of COVID when global supply chains faced disruptions with fulfillment and transportation. BTM Global spearheaded the project to address the need for real-time system updates and intuitive software that could communicate across all channels, which was mission-critical to the retailer’s growth and success.
Results: A Functionally Intuitive POS and Inventory Operating System
By Fall 2021, all stores had successfully launched with Oracle Xstore and SIOCS, marking the completion of the first project. BTM Global successfully led the initial implementation and continues to work closely with the retailer to ensure seamless implementation throughout the subsequent phases, which Rural King believes will be a “game-changer” for inventory flow.
